NFL: The Rams announced that 2020 leading rusher Cam Akers suffered a torn Achilles tendon while training. The running back will miss the ’21 season, according to multiple reports. In 2020, Akers ran for 625 yards and two touchdowns on 145 carries and caught 11 passes for 123 yards and a TD.

Olympics: Team USA guard Zach LaVine entered health and safety protocols and did not travel with his men’s basketball teammates to Tokyo. LaVine is hopeful to join the team later this week. 

MLB: The Mets belted seven home runs in their 15-11 extra-innings victory over the Reds. New York has won two in a row and leads second-place Philadelphia by 2.5 games in the NL East.
