The Draft

Making Headlines

NBA: 76ers head coach Doc Rivers criticized officials following Sunday’s 128-124 loss to Atlanta in Game 1, citing “unfair whistles” against top defender Ben Simmons. Also: Phoenix beat Denver handily in Game 1 of their series, 122-105, and the Nets took a 2-0 series lead over the Bucks.

MLB: Amid an impending crackdown on “doctored baseballs,” the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole and Dodgers’ Trevor Bauer have seen their respective spin rates drop by 6% and 10%.

NHL: The Islanders beat the Bruins 5-4 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead, while the Lightning can close out their series against Carolina on Tuesday night.

French Open: No. 3 Rafael Nadal def. Jannik Sinner, and No. 6 Alexander Zverev took out Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to reach the quarters. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Tamara Zidansek both advanced to the women’s semis.

Tonight's Action

Clippers at Jazz

Watch: 10 p.m. ET, TNT

Odds: Jazz -3 (-110) || O/U 221

Pick: Game 1 of the Western Conference semis tips off from Salt Lake. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are coming in hot, but likely worn out, after surviving seven games with Dallas. Utah is rested and was the best three-point shooting team in the regular season.

Sports Section likes the Jazz to roll and loves the under.

Shoutout: Yesterday, we asked subscribers to predict the winner, score, and first goal scorer of Canadiens-Jets. No one correctly picked Erik Gustaffson to get on the board first, but shoutout to subscriber Allan Wrigglesworth (@wriggs51), who nailed the Canadiens 3-2. Nice work, Allan!
