The Draft

It’s finally Opening Day, though with a few caveats — weather and COVID protocols. Having said that…it’s finally Opening Day!

Making Headlines

NCAAM: North Carolina announced that Roy Williams is retiring after a 33-year head coaching career, including 18 with the Tar Heels. Also: Oklahoma state guard Cade Cunningham, a projected lottery pick, announced that he will enter the 2021 NBA Draft.

NHL: The Sabres snapped an 18-game winless streak with a 6-1 victory over the Flyers.

Tonight’s Action

White Sox at Angels, 10:05 p.m. ET

Odds: White Sox -115, Angels +105 || O/U 8.5

Pick: Both teams have high hopes as they begin their seasons. Lucas Giolito and Dylan Bundy will each make their second career Opening Day starts for Chicago and Los Angeles, respectively.

Sports Section likes the White Sox on the moneyline and the over.

Shoutout: Yesterday, we asked subscribers to predict the winner of Mavericks-Celtics, the final score, and the leading scorer in the game.

Dallas won 113-108 behind Luka Doncic’s game-high 36.

Sports Section had the Mavs +1 but just missed the over-222.5.

Subscriber David Nagelberg (@SportsGuruDave) was on target with the Mavs. No one had Doncic leading the way.

Keep the picks coming, everyone!
