The Draft

LeBron didn’t receive a vote in a survey for the NBA’s best player. We don’t disagree with Giannis and KD as co-winners — no offense to The King. For this week’s “Friday Conversation,” we checked in with a WNBA star who just became an Olympic gold medalist.

Making Headlines

NHL: Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist announced his retirement after 15 years in the league. The 39-year-old Swede holds Rangers team records with 459 wins, .918 save percentage, 2.43 goals-against average, and 64 shutouts in 887 games. He was a five-time All-Star and won the Vezina Trophy in 2012.

Tennis: Rafael Nadal said Friday that a foot injury has ended his 2021 season. The No. 4 player in the world and 20-time Grand Slam winner will miss this month’s U.S. Open, where he has won four times.

MLB: The Braves have signed catcher Travis d’Arnaud to a two-year, $16 million contract. The 32-year-old is hitting .223 with three home runs and 15 RBI this season.
