NFL: Jaguars coach Urban Meyer announced that No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence will start at quarterback in Week 1 against the Texans. Lawrence threw 20-for-32 (62.5%) for 184 yards and no TDs or INTs in two preseason games. Also: The Broncos named Teddy Bridgewater their starting QB.

Soccer: After Harry Kane announced that he will not leave Tottenham this season, Manchester City are reportedly turning their interest toward Ronaldo.

MLB: The Yankees won their 11th game in a row, matching their longest streak since 1985. The last time New York won 12 consecutive games was 1961 (13). Also, the Cardinals will place ace Jack Flaherty on the 10-day injured list, according to manager Mike Shildt. The righthander left Tuesday’s game against the Tigers with a shoulder strain.
