The Draft

We’ll need much more time to compile all our favorite moments of the European Super League era. Until then, we’ll keep our focus on the action that is…actually happening.

Making Headlines

MLB: Brewers righthander Corbin Burnes set a record for most strikeouts (40) without a walk by a starter during Milwaukee’s 6-0 victory over San Diego.

Soccer: The U.S. women’s national team drew Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand in Group G of the Tokyo Olympic tournament. Also: Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are the latest teams to drop out of the proposed European Super League.

NHL: The Penguins became the first team in history to win a game despite yielding six goals in the third period. Pittsburgh hung on to defeat New Jersey 7-6.

Tonight’s Action

Hawks at Knicks

Watch: 8 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass

Odds: Hawks -1.5 || O/U 216.5

Pick: Both teams are playing the second of back-to-back games in this showdown for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Sports Section likes New York to extend its winning streak to eight, so we’ll gladly take the points. We also like the under.

Who ya got? Reply to this newsletter with your prediction of the Hawks-Knicks winner, final score, and leading scorer. Nail it, and you get a mention in the next edition of Sports Section. Don’t forget to include your Twitter handle.

Shoutout: Yesterday, we asked subscribers to predict the winner of Rays-Royals, the score, and which player would hit the first home run. Tampa won 14-7, with the Rays’ Brandon Lowe belting the first homer.

No one predicted Lowe, but subscriber Scott Kowalczyk (@kow21kow21) had the Rays winning and was closest to the final score. Way to go, Scott!

Keep the picks coming, everyone!
