The Draft

Making Headlines

NBA: The Lakers’ LeBron James said it was a “slap in the face” for the NBA to hold an All-Star Game during the pandemic, according to The Athletic.

MLB: The Cardinals traded outfielder Dexter Fowler to the Angels for cash considerations. He’ll join former manager Joe Maddon.

NHL: The league announced that the Avalanche have postponed games through at least Feb. 11 due to COVID protocols. The Sabres, Devils, Wild and Golden Knights are all also shut down at this time.

Sunday’s Action

Super Bowl LV: Chiefs vs. Buccaneers

Watch: 6:30 p.m. ET, CBS

Odds: Chiefs -3.5 || O/U 56

Pick: We trust Mahomes & Co. to again hoist the Lombardi Trophy and cover the points. The Chiefs have too many weapons like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. The GOAT will have his say with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin; but Kansas City shortens the game, gets off the field on third down, and Brady comes up a touchdown short of his seventh ring. 27-20, Chiefs.

Props: MVP and first touchdown scorer, Tyreek Hill; Gatorade color for winning coach, orange, maybe; O/U 1.5 times Gisele appears on camera — way over.

Who ya got? Reply to this newsletter with your prediction and Twitter handle with the winner of Super Bowl LV, the score, the first touchdown scorer, and the MVP. The person with the most correct picks gets a mention in the next edition of Sports Section. Have fun watching (and betting on…and eating during) the game!

Shoutout: Yesterday, we asked subscribers to predict the winner between Ohio State-Iowa and the final score. The Buckeyes won 89-85. No one likes free money apparently. We told you the value was with Ohio State in a high-scoring game! Where’s the faith, people?

Keep the picks coming!
