The Draft

It’s almost time to hit the patio, fire up the grill, and watch hours of sports over the holiday weekend. But first, enjoy our Friday Conversation with a former major leaguer making his mark on the video game industry.

Making Headlines

Wimbledon: Second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, No. 7 Iga Swiatek, and No. 8 Karolina Pliskova each advanced to the fourth round. Americans Sloane Stephens, Shelby Rogers, and Madison Brengle were eliminated. On the men’s side, No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 5 Andrey Rublev, and No. 8 Roberto Bautista Agut were third-round winners.

NBA: Brook Lopez (33 points) and Khris Middleton (26) led the Bucks to a 123-112 victory over the Hawks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Milwaukee leads the series 3-2 and can reach its first NBA Finals since 1974 with a win in Game 6 on Saturday night in Atlanta.

What We're Watching

Lightning at Canadiens

Watch: 8 p.m. ET, NBC

Odds: Lightning -132, Canadiens +114 || O/U 5*

Pick: Despite their 3-1 loss in Game 2 on Wednesday night, the Canadiens controlled the puck for a good portion of the game. Sports Section likes Montreal to do the same in Game 3 — but this time come away with a victory. Take the Habs on the moneyline and the over.

Who ya got? Reply to this newsletter with your prediction of the Lightning-Canadiens winner, the final score, and game’s first goal-scorer. Nail it, and you get a mention in the next edition of Sports Section. Don’t forget to include your Twitter handle.

Shoutout to subscriber Austin Nilemo (@anilemo), who correctly predicted the Bucks would defeat the Hawks and was closest to the final score. Way to go, Austin!

Keep the picks coming, everyone!
