The Draft

Aaron Rodgers isn’t at Packers minicamp, but Shohei Ohtani’s latest blast might be landing there soon. Let’s head to the NL Central for now…

Making Headlines

NBA: The Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic was named MVP, becoming the lowest-drafted player (41st overall in 2014) to win. Commissioner Adam Silver presented the award to Jokic during the Nuggets’ team meeting. Also: The Jazz took a 1-0 series lead over the Clippers, while the 76ers evened their series with the Hawks at 1-1.

MLB: The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani belted his 17th home run, the longest of his career (470 feet). Also: Brandon Crawford hit two home runs while playing in his franchise-record 1,326th game at shortstop for the Giants.

NHL: Mark Stone’s overtime goal lifted the Golden Knights over the Avalanche in Game 5. Vegas leads the series 3-2. Also: The Lightning’s Victor Hedman, the Avalanche’s Cale Makar, and the Rangers’ Adam Fox were named Norris Trophy finalists.

French Open: Third-seeded Rafael Nadal defeated No. 10 Diego Schwarzman in four sets to reach the semifinals for the 14th consecutive time. On the women’s side, Barbora Krejcikova and Maria Sakkari each reached the semis.

Tonight's Action

Indians at Cardinals, 8:15 p.m., ET

Odds: Cardinals -127, Indians +108 || O/U 7.5

Pick: Jean Carlos Mejia (1-0, 0.00 ERA) of the Indians will face fellow righthander Adam Wainwright (3-5, 4.19) for the Cardinals.

St. Louis has lost six in a row and is starting to fade in the National League Central. Sports Section likes Wainwright to stop the bleeding. Take the Cardinals on the moneyline and the over.

Shoutout to subscriber Marty Magee (@martymagee), who correctly picked the Jazz to defeat the Clippers and was closest to the final score of 112-109, as well as Donovan Mitchell leading all scorers. Nice job, Marty!

Keep the picks coming, everyone!
