Making Headlines

Baseball: Former Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka announced he will return to Japan to play for Rakuten of the Nippon Professional Baseball League. Elsewhere: the Brewers’ Sara Goodrum was named the first female minor-league hitting coordinator.

NHL: Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard announced his retirement. Also: the Blackhawks agreed to terms with defenseman Madison Bowey on a two-year contract.

Tonight’s Action

The NHL will have a 14-game slate for the first time in almost a year. The headliner is a showdown between Sidney Crosby and the Penguins (4-2-1) against Brad Marchand and the Bruins (4-1-1) in Boston.

Watch: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Odds: Bruins -125/Penguins +112  ||  O/U 5.5

Pick: Grab the Penguins and the positive juice; lean under. The Bruins won 3-2 in overtime when the teams met Tuesday night. Expect more of the same but a bounce back for Pittsburgh.

Shoutout: Last night, Garrett Doiron predicted a 76ers win, 108-107. He missed by exactly one point on either side (107-106). Congrats! Maybe you should consider playing the lottery.
