Euro 2020: In the most shocking upset of the tournament thus far, Switzerland erased a two-goal deficit and won the penalty shootout to beat France and advance to the quarterfinals. Also: Spain needed extra time but defeated Croatia 5-3 to advance, while England beat Germany 2-0.

Wimbledon: Five-time champion Serena Williams won her 90th career Wimbledon match, defeating Mihaela Buzarnescu to reach the second round. Top-seeded Ashleigh Barty also advanced. On the men’s side, fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev advanced, while American Sebastian Korda upset 15th-seeded Alex De Minaur.

MLB: Kyle Schwarber belted two home runs to lift the Nationals over the Mets. Schwarber has 11 homers in his last nine games and a team-record 15 in June.

NFL: The Washington Football Team promoted Tanya Snyder, wife of owner Daniel Snyder, to co-CEO.

NHL: The Oilers signed Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to an eight-year contract extension that carries an AAV of $5.25 million. Also: The Sabres signed Don Granato to a three-year deal as head coach.
