Olympics: Seventeen-year-old Lydia Jacoby, the first U.S. swimmer from Alaska, won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke. Also: The U.S. women’s basketball team defeated Nigeria 81-72 to run its Olympic winning streak to 50; Japan topped the U.S. 2-0 to capture the women’s softball gold medal; and Osaka fell to the Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in the third round.
