NFL: Steelers LB T.J. Watt became the NFL’s highest-paid defender (by AAV) when he signed a four-year, $112 million extension; the Ravens signed former Saints RB Latavius Murray to a one-year deal worth up to $2 million on Friday, one day after Gus Edwards became their third back to suffer a season-ending injury in 12 days.
College Football: The Big 12 voted unanimously to accept four new schools: BYU, UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati. BYU will join by 2023, while the others will join no later than 2024.
MLB: Red Sox ace Chris Sale became the 10th Boston player to test positive for COVID-19 since Aug. 27 and will sit out at least 10 days, per MLB protocols.
