The Draft

If last night was any indication, this will be a wild NFL season — and we should all (responsibly) bet more overs. Before the rest of Week 1 kicks off, we sat down with the host of “Good Morning Football” for our latest Friday Conversation.

Making Headlines

NFL: Steelers LB T.J. Watt became the NFL’s highest-paid defender (by AAV) when he signed a four-year, $112 million extension; the Ravens signed former Saints RB Latavius Murray to a one-year deal worth up to $2 million on Friday, one day after Gus Edwards became their third back to suffer a season-ending injury in 12 days.

College Football: The Big 12 voted unanimously to accept four new schools: BYU, UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati. BYU will join by 2023, while the others will join no later than 2024.

MLB: Red Sox ace Chris Sale became the 10th Boston player to test positive for COVID-19 since Aug. 27 and will sit out at least 10 days, per MLB protocols.
