The Draft

Making Headlines

Golf: Five-time major champion Phil Mickelson accepted a special exemption to play in the 121st U.S. Open next month.

NBA: The Heat’s Udonis Haslem made his 2020-21 debut — his 18th NBA season — but was quickly ejected after an altercation with the 76ers’ Dwight Howard.

NFL: The Vikings traded cornerback Mike Hughes and a seventh-round pick in the 2022 draft to the Chiefs for a sixth-round selection.

Tonight’s Action

Nationals at Diamondbacks, 9:40 p.m. ET

Odds: Nationals -195, Diamondbacks +163 || O/U 9

Pick: Max Scherzer (2-2, 2.33 ERA) is slated to start for Washington and will face fellow righthander Riley Smith (1-2, 4.85).

Sports Section likes Scherzer to shut down his former team, so take the Nationals and the under.

Who ya got? Reply to this newsletter with your prediction of the Nationals-Diamondbacks winner, the final score, and Scherzer’s total strikeouts in the game. Nail it, and you get a mention in the next edition of Sports Section. Don’t forget to include your Twitter handle.

Shoutout: Yesterday, we asked subscribers to predict the winner of Avalanche-Kings, the final score, and the game’s first goal-scorer. Colorado won 5-1 after Los Angeles’ Sean Walker opened the scoring.

Subscriber Tim Maher (@glenayrfarm) was all over it, predicting a 5-1 Avs victory. Nice work, Tim!

Keep the picks coming, everyone!
